The above situation isn't that likely though and $1,499.00 is a lot to pay to deal with such situations. I would imagine a guitar with a pair of six-string necks could be useful for using different tunings, although how often would you need to change mid-song?
Let's face it, it's a doubleneck and it's mainly a visual thing.
