Quest Manhattan M-3X - another 1980s guitar from legendary Japanese makers Matsumoku

guitarz.blogspot.com:
Here is a Quest Manhattan M-3X, looking as if it fused together design references from Rickenbacker and the Ibanez Iceman. Alongside Aria, Vantage, Westone and others, Quest was another brandname used on guitars made by the highly esteemed Matsumoku factory in Japan during the 1980s. The Manhattan series consisted of three guitars: the more basic M-3 model; the M-3X (as seen here) which featured a solid ash body with binding plus "unique electronic circuit and controls"; and the top-of-the-range model the M-3Z which offered the same features as the M-3X but with neck through body construction and a sycamore top. There were also two Manhattan bass models: the M-3B and the M-3BZ; I'm guessing the latter also had a through-neck and sycamore top like its guitar counterpart.

This guitar is currently being auctioned on eBay France with bidding currently at €300 as I type this.

Check here for a Quest Guitars catalogue from the 1980s.

  1. Nice guitar!
I have a rare piece of the M-3Z. I looks very similar to this one, but has a thru-body neck.
I got in 2007 and I still haven't seen another one, not even on the web!
It's a very nice guitar in great condition.
