Sigma by C.F. Martin Tele-style guitar (made by Tokai)

guitarz.blogspot.com:
Here's an unusual but mighty fine-looking Telecaster Guitar from C.F. Martin's Sigma brand. Made in Japan for Sigma by Tokai guitars, it rather unusually - for a Tele - sports a headstock with three tuners to each side. From the photos I'd guess it was also of a slightly shorter scale length - a Gibson-esque 24" perhaps?

The seller claims that this is one of only 49 examples produced (When? 1970s? 80s?), and is "one of the best playing electric guitars I have ever encountered." This guitar is currently listed on eBay UK with a starting bid of £449.

  1. Strange beast: Tokai built good guitars back in the 80's. The neck of this one looks similar to the ones they used on their famous Lespaul copies so you might be right about the string length. control plate with a toggle switch...very unusual on a tele but quite logic. What's under the ashtray cover? probably a single coil...The neck pickup with the polepieces on the "wrong" side. Is it a mistake or a way to make it sound not too muddy when mixed with the neck pickup? Great looking body, probably maple if it's not a painting effect (by those times you could still find cheap but good large pieces of maple)Many questions but a very seducing guitar.
