guitarz.blogspot.com:
I'm not normally a fan of pointy guitars intended for metal music, and although I realise that the shape of this Jackson Roswell Rhodes is most impractical, I do enjoy the simplicity of its design which manages to convey the intended UFO imagery perfectly. I particularly like the fingerboard inlays which appear to be characters from some weird alien script, or alternatively crop circle designs (even though the sensible among us know that all crop circles are created by hoaxers and/or artists). I can't imagine using it for a studio instrument or around the house or for playing when seated but I'm sure it would make a fantastic stage guitar for the right band.
Currently listed on ebay UK with a starting price of £369.

Jackson USA Custom Shop King V doubleneck
guitarz.blogspot.com:
This Jackson USA Custom Shop King V doubleneck is an exercise in excess with its over-sized quilted maple topped body, dual through-necks, reverse pointy headstocks, gold hardware, mother of pearl sharkfin inlays, etc. I have to confess that I'm not a fan. I never did like the Jackson pointy headstock design - it just looks totally incongruous on just about any body design, and quilted maple I'm sure is supposed to imply opulence but to me it just seems like an unimaginative short-cut to tarting up a guitar's appearance. Many would be impressed, but I have to stifle a yawn.
Flying V? Flying W more like!
Currently being offered for sale on eBay with a Buy It Now price of $9,999.99.

Jackson Soloist SL2H in Yellow Bengal finish
(Almost) everyday I search the Internet about guitars, to learn more about them, to feed this blog, or to see what I will buy (or more likely not buy) to improve my guitar work (and my GAS). I look for special guitars, often vintage ones because we are living in strange times, when most guitar makers and lovers are stuck in the 1950s and consider that the first models built are for ever the best ones, then to find the innovation and creativity we lack nowadays, one has to go to the 1960s and 1970s (I know, I know I said this already but we have new readers all the time!)...
So I look for special innovative guitars in term of sound, technology and design, but also for classics to have a better understanding of the history of electric lutherie, but what I see the most on the web are guitars like this Jackson Soloist the so-called superstrat aimed at metal shredding! And when I have to select a guitar to post here, I always overlook an endless stream of ESP, PRS and other Jacksons to find the Teisco or Eko gem, the one-off built in a garage by an obscure genius or the tripping East-german bizarro that we'll enjoy together. Once in a while I try to show a superstrat to keep connected to the whole guitar universe but I don't have much to say about it like today (did you notice the tigerish finish? about as scary as a stuffed kitten - exactly what you need to play hair metal).
I know that metal is the most spread style of pop music, but there is something twisted in the guitar business, because of all the kids who buy a superstrat in the hope of becoming the next Kirk Hammett, only 1% will actually learn more or less how to play - since shredding is highly technical and difficult, and 1% of these 1% will do something good out of it. If they would play good old garage rock, they would enjoy themselves much more, reach a better result in a few months, and play much cooler guitars, wouldn't they?

Quite ugly Jackson Custom
There's not much to tell about this Jackson Custom and its paint job... I'm just wondering if the guy who'd play this guitar imagines that this will get him laid...

Jackson Custom Shop "Black Beauty" Dominion Mark Morton signature
This Mark Morton signature Jackson Dominion is a very honorable neck-through, chambered mahogany body, double humbucker guitar with a descent classic no-nonsense design, slightly twisted but without the hint of genius you would expect from this kind of instrument.
It was conceived by Jackson for Mark Morton who plays in some metal band called Lamb of God and who wanted 'a guitar with which he could also play rock or blues'.
The guy just invented electric guitar it seems!

1989 Jackson Kelly custom
Another variation on the Explorer is the Jackson Kelly. I always think it's hilarious when the main argument to define a guitar is to mention its easy access to the high notes, like the ultimate purpose for a guitarist would be to play over 10000 Hz (while others favor drop tuned 7-strings guitars for the opposite purpose, but I don't know why, it feels more convincing). So as you can see, this one has a deep cutaway (though it could have no cutaway at all to make it even easier), and adapts the Explorer design with curves when it's possible and points where it's possible.
This Kelly has a noticeable pop flashy paint work, but I'm not sure that I want to hear the music of someone who like this design with this finish! any suggestion about what music it would be?

Refreshingly honest seller on eBay

I wish all eBay sellers were as honest in their opinions about the items they are selling as this guy. However, he'd never get a job in marketing with this approach.
His listing reads:
Crappy junk New Surfcaster Guitar, I hate this thingGood luck to him! Perhaps if he lowered the price a little someone would buy it to smash it up. (Actually, no, don't do that. It's the most appalling cliché.) It really is a bad copy of a "proper" Surfcaster, that much is apparent from the photo.
Yes, I still have this piece of garbage. It's still new even though it's a few years old because it sucks too bad to play. So it just sits and acts ugly. Why won't someone relieve me of my burden? I hate this thing. This piece of junk was made by Jackson around '04 I think. Why they made it is anyone's guess. I'd love to interview the guy that made the decision at Jackson though. It is called a "Jackson Surfcaster" but it is just an ugly slab of wood masquerading as a Surf. It doesn't have the soundhole, neck shape, inlays, heft, sound or looks of the original surfs or the later nicer Jackson Surfs that were all made in Japan. This was made in India. While they do a lot of great things in India, making guitars, evidently, is not one of them. Jackson ruined the most beautiful guitar in the world with this monstrosity. I bought it thinking all Surfs must be great. Not So! Only the Charvels and early Jackson's made in Japan are great. This thing is bland sounding and bland looking. No tremolo or cool C tailpiece. Just lazy strings through the body. This one is an ugly metallic red. It has a small neck, but it's round, not flat like classic surfs. I don't have anything good to say about it. This thing is so ugly that even though I get 12 pictures for the price of 10 with ebay, it's not worth any more pictures. There is no other angle to try to get it to look good. If you buy it, you're going to hate it, but please, please, do buy it so I can get it out of my house. Free shipping to entice you. No returns. Once you buy it you're stuck. You're it. And I promise you my handling time will be less than a day. I'll have it out of here and on it's way to you in 20 minutes.
Thanks for looking, and happy bidding.
