Rare Fender Acoustic Jazzmaster JZM Deluxe

Love it or hate it, Fender makes acoustic versions of their electric icons. I'm not a big fan, but I understand the appeal. That said, I have some love for this abomination.  It's got a "so ugly it's cool" thing going on.

I'll have to do some research and find out just exactly how rare this JZM Deluxe really is.

Heartfield RR-59 Made by Fender in Fujigen Factory 1992

We looked at Heartfield guitars once before with this RR-58 and I mentioned that I would love to see it in green ( it's kind of a thing for me, green guitars ) and lo and behold here we have a green Heartfield RR-59.

I think it looks incredible.

I've yet to get my hands on a Heartfield guitar but given the quality level of guitars coming out of Japan at the time I can only assume it plays as good as it looks.

Currently on eBay for $699 U.S.

Fender So-Cal custom design Stratocaster from 2005

This is the first time I'd seen this Korean made So-Cal Fender Stratocaster.

It's not really something I'm into, but it is a unique piece worthy of mention here on Guitarz. I've not had the time yet to look it up, I wonder if they only did a Strat this way. Perhaps there's an offset or a Tele that could change my mind on the design.

Fenix D92RX Western Dreadnought made in the 1990s

We looked at Fenix guitars back in January with the Fenix XL30 which was a very sober looking jumbo built in the Fender Japan factory in the late 1980s.
This Fenix D92RX Western is perhaps a little more ornate with blue tortoise-esque inlays in the binding, rosette, and soundboard. It was apparently made in Korea unlike the XL30 but sports a solid spruce top and rosewood back and sides.

It's really not to my taste to be honest, but I've always felt that dreadnoughts generally don't wear the "bling" as well as other guitars.

Rare Fender Deluxe Millenium Edition Telecaster

This simple, sober Telecaster may not look like anything special but it was apparently one of only 30 made in the first week of the new millennium. I'm not sure if that was even really a "thing' or not but it does make for a great sales pitch.

That said, I'd definitely welcome this Tele into my collection as it's likely a real player with Fender noiseless pickups, maple fretboard with pearl inlays, and red wine finish.

Beautiful Watson Mustang copy guitar. A made in Japan 1970s Fender copy

There's a rare elegance to this made in Japan Watson Mustang that you do not usually find on the Mustang. Don't get me wrong, I love Mustangs, but they most are often associated with a more rock and roll aesthetic.

This 1970s Kiro Suzuki made Mustang gets its great look from an awesome wine colour that has aged to vintage perfection.

You say Fender, we say Fendar! A not-fender copy with identity issues.

There's a lot to be said about this Fendar acoustic guitar, and not much of it is good. Look at that very familiar style logo. Then look at it again. And, again. All in all the name Fendar shows up on this guitar 5 times. The headstock screams Ovation, the guitar looks like it's painted with plastic, and that poor glue-hungry nut makes me cringe.

And possibly saddest of all is the price of $400. Not because it's ridiculously overpriced, but I get the feeling that the seller believes it's worth that and likely paid even more for it themself.

Elegant Japan made Fender Aerodyne Telecaster - Tele Tuesday late by a day

I don't know how rare these Fender Aerodyne Telecasters are. I rarely see them, and I've seen my fair share of Aerodyne Strats and basses.

This example is very pleasing to my eyes. I love the simplicity, subtle curves, and the P90 in the neck position.

Tele Tuesday - American Fender Elite Telecaster from 1983

I've long been a fan of the Elite Telecaster from the 1980s. Much like the Fender Aerodynes the Elite series guitars are high end without looking too flashy. They are just more classy versions of the model.

This 1983 Telecaster Elite has the added perk for me in that it has a great green finish.

Heartfield by Fender RR-58 Made in Japan

In the early 1990s I lived in a very rural part of Canada. With a lot of lakes, trees, and wildlife it's hard to complain. However, it seems I missed out on a lot of things that were going on in the guitar world.

Take this Heartfield RR-58 for example. Drawing influences from all over the place these guitars were the product of a joint company created by the American and Japanese branches of Fender.

I love the TV yellow-ish colour and the simple layout. Nice setneck design and a pushbutton 10db boost with l.e.d. indicator.

Apparently they made a version in green as well, thus piquing my interest even more so.

1960s Fender Jazzmaster Body Guard - The original Anti-Relic

In an age where misguided souls with lofty ambitions and access to power tools are a threat to any unsuspecting guitar ( I'm looking at you, Ted ), it's refreshing to see that the generation before us sometimes went to great lengths to keep their precious axes in pristine shape.

I personally fall somewhere in the middle of these schools of thought. Hard played miles are fine but keep the grinder away from your guitar.

I have a vague memory of a something similar to this Fender Jazzmaster Body Guard being marketed in the 1980s. Only then it was made of spandex.
