The barbershop guitar: Comet double-cutaway parlour acoustic

This is hanging on the wall at a barbershop in Toronto. Any ideas? The brand is "Comet."

It looks like a Stella with pretentions of becoming a Strat. Has anyone out there seen anything similar?
