Here's another highly decorated Telecaster-type guitar, the Liquid Metal Guitars LMG T WS. The W and S in the guitar's name are the initials of Warren Smith, an engraver and master craftsman in metals, based in Armstrong, B.C., who has been working on jewellery pieces for over 20 years and has recently relished the opporunity of working on the larger canvasses offered by LMG's guitar bodies.

Liquid Metal Guitar Paisley Telecaster (I had a dream)

Dear Santa* / Tooth Fairy* / Kim Jong Il* / Bernard Madoff* (*select your favorite fulfiller of impossible wishes), you know how much I love black paisley for guitar finish - a perfect metaphor of my dichotomous tastes in pop music -, and since I'm a gentleman (as much as I can), I would see it on a sober and classic guitar like a telecaster for example (would put a neck P90 though for a more exciting sound)... Also I'm dreaming for years to get a metal body guitar - a shiny one, not an easy relicking à la Trussart - so combining all this would create the most desirable guitar... 

Alas, I don't believe in miracles and benevolent entities, so...

No, wait, now it exists for good! Liquid Metal Guitars did it, and it's just perfect!  I've been fantasizing for ever on Moollon etched guitars but the paisley pattern really makes my DNA ring... But I'm just an humble musician, and I will never be able to afford such a guitar, so it's still just a dream...

Bigsby-equipped T-type lefty from Liquid Metal Guitars

I've been awfully remiss in recent times in posting guitars aimed at the southpaw contingent. Interesting lefties are indeed hard to find. So, when Liquid Metal Guitars emailed me with photos of one of their latest creations - and it's a lefty - well, I knew I had to show it to you. As ever with LMG's guitars, the body made from a solid block of 6061 T6 Aircraft Aluminium. This model is equipped with Seymour Duncan pickups (a Lil'59 in the bridge position and what looks to be a humbucker-sized P90-style at the neck) and the aforementioned Bigsby.

The Liquid Metal Guitar Co starts shipping the Hard Tail T with Seymour Duncan’s Custom Shop Designed Pickup Set

I'm not normally very keen to reproduce press releases sent to me by guitar companies but Liquid Metal Guitars are a small company with a really interesting product and are the sort of company that I like to support.

Here is their latest news:

The Liquid Metal Guitar Company has shipped the first lot of hard tail LMG “T” guitars with our new exclusive Seymour Duncan® Custom Shop pick up set.

"This is again, for us, was one of those wonderful serendipities where Seymour ended up with our guitar in his private shop” says Phil Cook. “He (Seymour) was intrigued by the warmth of the tone, by the sustain and note bloom and by the way we construct our guitars."

Still being the curious craftsman, that started making picks ups years ago, he set about designing a pick up set for our LMG "T" guitar just to see what he could do to make it better.

And better it is. The pickups he designed take full advantage of all the tone enhancing qualities our guitars have, while retaining the traditional sound coloring of this style of guitar.

The bridge ¼lb magnets wrapped to a strong 15k, that can perform exceptionally well at the level because of the proprietary way the guitar is built. It is not brittle at all, clean and clear.

The neck is a "Phat Cat™", but wound with a little more heat.

This set gives the player a great range to play with.

"For us it is fantastic to have someone of Seymour’s stature to work with," says Phil Cook.

Liquid Metal Guitars are precision-machined from a solid block of aircraft aluminum, resulting in a clear, pure, ultra-sustaining tone and our hallmark stunning visuals.

Each line of guitars has a custom pick up set made exclusively for that guitar by some of the best boutique pickup men in the business – Seymour Duncan, T.V. Jones and Lindy Fralin.

LMG guitars are visually stunning. The company mandate is to finish the guitars in a process unique to metal, nothing that can be duplicated in wood or plastic is done. The offered finishes are: Chrome, 18k Gold, Harley Davidson baked on motorcycle paint or industrial machine markings.

The guitars are metal–machined, hard, cool metal - with soothing curves and sinful cuts, whose luminescence sizzles and shimmers as only metal can. LMG is a celebration of noise, cars and rock and roll.

Liquid Metal Guitars present the LMG "T"

This is a stunning-looking Tele-type guitar from Canada's Liquid Metal Guitars. The body is made from a solid block of 6061 T6 Aircraft Aluminum, and features a machine-etched finish which is then coated with scratch resistant clear coat developed by Akzo Nobel for use on ultra luxury cars. Take a look a the photos to see how incredibly beautiful this finish is.

The neck is a fine-crafted Canadian hard rock maple affair, whilst pickups are courtesy of Lindy Fralin. I'm skimping over the details here, but it all sounds like it makes for a fantastic T-type guitar. With that aluminium body, it must sustain for days.

You've probably already guessed, I'm a big fan of the finish. It's certainly a lot more attractive than the rusty steel efforts that James Trussart churns out these days.

18k Glistening Gold Metal Bodied Guitar

You know, I don't ony blog about those instruments that belong in some kind of Guitar Freak Show. I blog about beautiful guitars too.

The very very shiny guitar pictured here is actually an 18K gold plated metal-bodied guitar from Liquid Metal Guitars of Vancouver, BC, who claim to create the most beautiful custom guitars in the world. It certainly looks very eye catching from where I'm sitting.

This particular model GGG #001 went to a collector who collection also includes a gold bodied Veleno from back in the 60/70s, so he obviously likes a bit of bling on his guitars!
